Zyra Guide

Support

Zyra is an easy-to-pick-up control mage whose plants do much of her work: they poke, slow, give vision and zone areas. That gives her plenty of agency to carry, and she stays useful even when behind.

The support standard page is Arcane Comet with Manaflow Band, Transcendence and Scorch, plus Taste of Blood and Treasure Hunter. Electrocute is great all-round, since each plant attack counts as a hit, and Dark Harvest suits all-squishy teams. Take one mana source: Manaflow Band, Presence of Mind or Blackfire Torch. Take Flash and Ignite, or Exhaust as a safer option. Upgrade World Atlas into Zaz'Zak's Realmspike, or Celestial Opposition against a fed assassin. The carry build is Sorcerer's Shoes, Liandry's Torment, Blackfire Torch, Cryptbloom and Rabadon's Deathcap. The utility build swaps in Ionian Boots, Rylai's Crystal Scepter, Zhonya's Hourglass and Morellonomicon. In the jungle, an alternative setup runs Electrocute with Cheap Shot, Sixth Sense and Treasure Hunter, takes Scorchclaw Smite, and builds Liandry's Torment, Sorcerer's Shoes, Shadowflame and Cryptbloom.

Strengths

  • Long-range poke from plants that outrange most champions.
  • Excellent zone control and vision from plants and Rampant Growth.
  • Easy to play, still useful when behind, and a real AP threat when ahead.

Weaknesses

  • Immobile and vulnerable to divers and assassins.
  • Very reliant on ability haste and on spawning plants efficiently.
  • Weak at level 1, and Wind Wall champions like Yasuo blunt her poke.

Laning Phase

Level 1 is weak, so push the wave to collect Garden of Thorns seeds around you; they make engaging on you risky. Poke with Deadly Spines, timed with seed spawns and Rampant Growth so the plant still hits even if Q misses. Don't let enemies step on your seeds for free. Against hook champions like Blitzcrank or Thresh, place a seed between you so the plant blocks the hook. In the jungle, never skip camps early, and use seeds over walls and on objectives for vision.

Mid & Late Game

Drop plants wherever you go; they give free vision and damage, especially with Liandry's Torment. When ahead, chain Grasping Roots, Deadly Spines, two Rampant Growth seeds and Stranglethorns to delete squishy targets. When behind, lock down and peel threats to your carries and scout with plants. Claim choke points like river entrances before objectives so enemies take damage walking in.

Key Tips

  • Stranglethorns doesn't spawn plants, it only empowers existing ones, so place seeds first.
  • Grasping Roots plants stack their slow up to 60%, so you can cut off escapes even after missing the root.
  • If seeds spawn while you're in a brush, the enemy can see you.
  • Spread Q plants apart in fights so area damage can't clear them all.
