Warwick Guide

Top

Warwick is a dominant early duelist: Eternal Hunger keeps him healing at low health, Primal Howl wins melee fights, and Blood Hunt tracks wounded enemies. He's strongest in the early and mid game, so the goal is to snowball and close games out.

In top lane, run Lethal Tempo with Triumph, Legend: Alacrity and Last Stand, plus Second Wind and Revitalize. Take Flash with Barrier, or Ghost and Teleport for a safer setup. Start Doran's Blade and a potion. Blade of the Ruined King is one of the best one-item spikes in the game. The standard top build is Boots of Swiftness, Blade of the Ruined King, Stridebreaker, Hullbreaker, Terminus and Spirit Visage, with Death's Dance and Sterak's Gage for teamfights, or Mercury's Treads and Wit's End against heavy AP. In the jungle, an alternative setup runs Press the Attack with Triumph, Legend: Alacrity and Coup de Grace, plus Magical Footwear and Cosmic Insight, and takes Flash and Smite. It starts Gustwalker Hatchling, buys Tiamat on the first back, and builds Trinity Force, Plated Steelcaps, Titanic Hydra, Spirit Visage and Death's Dance.

Strengths

  • Dominant early dueling from level 3 and strong 2v1 power.
  • Blood Hunt tracks low-health or invisible enemies and scouts for ganks.
  • Excellent side-lane pressure and engage with Infinite Duress.

Weaknesses

  • Almost no wave clear without Tiamat.
  • Can be kited by ranged champions; Vayne, Gnar, Jayce, Kennen and Teemo are tough.
  • Weak late game, especially against true damage and healing reduction.

Laning Phase

In top lane, fight as much as possible: from level 3 your dueling ramps up hugely, and your passive lets you sit at half health. Use Primal Howl to win melee duels and Barrier to survive Ignite or big burst. Against ranged lanes, ult onto them, cut them off with Jaws of the Beast and fear them away. In the jungle, buy Oracle Lens at level 1 and start red buff, Krugs, then Raptors. Before finishing Raptors, check the lanes: gank a side lane or mid if the enemy is low, far from tower or missing summoners; otherwise full clear.

Mid & Late Game

Push side lanes and 1v1 anyone not under their tower, using Blood Hunt to check whether anyone is coming. In the jungle, play around your bot lane and use objectives as tools to start fights you can win. In teamfights, engage on a priority target with Infinite Duress, then hold Primal Howl to survive the focus. When ganking, activate Primal Howl, hold Q to land behind the target, then recast Primal Howl so they run toward your allies.

Key Tips

  • Hold Q to dash through the target: you follow their Flash or dash and are immune to displacement during it.
  • Start holding Q just before Infinite Duress ends to chain them and catch the enemy's Flash.
  • Infinite Duress makes you immune to all crowd control while you leap, so you can jump through stuns like Twisted Fate's card.
  • Blood Hunt reveals a trail to low-health enemies even when they're invisible, like Kha'Zix.
