Viego Guide

Jungle

Viego is a resetting skirmisher: he duels and clears with Blade of the Ruined King, ganks unseen from Harrowed Path's mist, and turns a single takedown into a chain of possessions with Sovereign's Domination. Every move should aim to create a skirmish and secure that first kill, because without it he's just a decent duelist.

Conqueror with Triumph, Legend: Alacrity and Coup de Grace, plus Magical Footwear and Cosmic Insight (or Sudden Impact and Treasure Hunter). Take Flash with Smite, starting Gustwalker Hatchling for gank tempo, or Mosstomper Seedling against heavy burst or CC. The main build is Trinity Force, Mercury's Treads, The Collector, Immortal Shieldbow, Lord Dominik's Regards and Infinity Edge; a second version opens Kraken Slayer with Plated Steelcaps. Bruiser variants use Sundered Sky, Death's Dance, Blade of the Ruined King, Sterak's Gage, Maw of Malmortius and Guardian Angel. Buy Oracle Lens early. Max Q first.

Strengths

  • Unrivalled teamfight reset potential through possessions.
  • High sustain and strong dueling once items are complete.
  • Harrowed Path gives stealthy flanks, and Heartbreaker executes low targets.

Weaknesses

  • Mechanically demanding, and he needs knowledge of every champion's kit to use possessions well.
  • Very vulnerable to hard CC chains; Spectral Maw is slow and easy to interrupt.
  • Needs items and the first takedown to have teamfight impact.

Laning Phase

Full clear to level 4, using Q then an immediate auto to trigger the double hit and heal. Use Harrowed Path on walls to approach lanes from unexpected angles, and gank immobile lanes with a fully charged Spectral Maw. A ward at enemy Raptors before 0:50, followed by a recall for Oracle Lens, reveals the enemy jungler's start. Don't force 1v1s without vision and a health advantage.

Mid & Late Game

From level 6, Heartbreaker makes you a clean-up machine: target low-health enemies to guarantee resets, prioritise Dragons, and play around enemy carries. Lead skirmishes with a fully charged W, then follow with Q. After a kill, use the possession's free Heartbreaker to reposition onto the next low target. Avoid picking him into heavy CC, hard-to-burst champions like Rammus, or strong duelists like Olaf or Trundle.

Key Tips

  • You're untargetable during the possession animation, which can dodge spells like Zoe's bubble.
  • Charge W, Flash over a wall, then release it for a surprise stun.
  • A quick-tap W gives a short stun and an instant dash in close duels.
