Urgot Guide

Top

Urgot is a short-ranged juggernaut: Echoing Flames' shotgun legs deal max-health damage around him, Purge procs them and on-hit effects, Disdain sets up kills, and Fear Beyond Death executes a target while fearing everyone nearby. His laning from levels 3 to 8 is weak, but his level 9 and 13 spikes and teamfighting are among the best in top lane.

Press the Attack with Triumph, Legend: Bloodline and Cut Down, plus Second Wind and Overgrowth. Swap Second Wind for Bone Plating against fast all-ins like Riven, Darius or Jax, and Overgrowth for Unflinching into CC-heavy lanes. A Stormraider's Surge page with Nimbus Cloak, Transcendence and Scorch plus Triple Tonic and Cosmic Insight suits matchups like Olaf or Kayle. Take Flash with Ignite (the top-lane quest gives you a free Teleport), or Ghost, Teleport or Exhaust situationally. Start Doran's Blade and a potion. The main build is Black Cleaver, Boots of Swiftness, Sterak's Gage, Dead Man's Plate, Force of Nature and Overlord's Bloodmail; Plated Steelcaps, Kaenic Rookern, Randuin's Omen, Thornmail, Chempunk Chainsword, Jak'Sho and Spear of Shojin are situational. Max W first, then Q, then E, with a second point in Q at level 4.

Strengths

  • Very strong level 1–2 and big spikes at levels 9 and 13.
  • Excellent teamfighting with area damage and crowd control.
  • Safe blind pick; Disdain plus Flash is almost always a kill.

Weaknesses

  • Weak lane between levels 3 and 8, with many losing matchups.
  • Slow, easy to gank and kite, and his skill shots are easy to play around.
  • Hard to press leads and team-reliant; struggles into Aatrox, Illaoi, Kayle, Mordekaiser or Olaf.

Laning Phase

Look for level 1 surprise attacks from brush — Purge stacks Press the Attack quickly. Don't spam Corrosive Charge, as it costs a lot of mana; use it to farm minions you're zoned from, slow enemies, or lock Purge onto a target. When trading, circle around the enemy with W active to hit all your shotgun legs. Be mindful of auto-attacking where a leg is down if you don't want to push. Survive the weak middle levels, then fight at 9 when W becomes a toggle.

Mid & Late Game

Your mid game is very strong: a single Disdain on a carry can turn a fight, and Flash into Fear Beyond Death can fear the whole enemy team after an execute. Always turn W on before using E so it fires during the dash. With W toggled, weave in an auto attack every few shots for more damage, especially on towers.

Key Tips

  • Disdain still goes off if you cast it just before getting CC'd, which helps you escape.
  • Abilities pressed during Disdain queue up and cast right after it.
  • Echoing Flames procs on Illaoi tentacles and Gangplank barrels, but not wards.
