Tryndamere Guide

Top

Tryndamere is essentially a melee crit carry: Battle Fury raises his crit chance, Bloodlust gives AD and healing, and Undying Rage makes him unkillable for 5 seconds, letting him dive under towers and split-push. He's a snowbally laner who can become unstoppable when ahead but struggles to make an impact from behind, so getting the early game right is essential.

Lethal Tempo with Triumph, Legend: Bloodline and Last Stand, plus Second Wind and Revitalize; Grasp of the Undying with Demolish, Hail of Blades, or a Lethal Tempo page with Nimbus Cloak and Celerity are alternatives. Take Flash with Ghost or Ignite. Start Doran's Blade (or Doran's Shield or Doran's Bow) with a potion, and buy Berserker's Greaves and Tiamat on your first recall. The classic build is Berserker's Greaves, Ravenous Hydra, Navori Flickerblade, Infinity Edge, Mortal Reminder and Mercurial Scimitar. Other listed builds include a Hail of Blades path with Essence Reaver and Endless Hunger, a Yun Tal Wildarrows path, Stridebreaker for ranged matchups, a Kraken Slayer and Guinsoo's Rageblade path, and a mid-lane variant with Profane Hydra and Serylda's Grudge.

Strengths

  • Strong carry potential and an excellent split-pusher.
  • Undying Rage gives 5 seconds of immortality, even while crowd-controlled.
  • Manaless, with sustain from Bloodlust and a dash that resets on crits.

Weaknesses

  • Squishy, item-dependent and expensive to build.
  • Only one slow as crowd control, and he relies entirely on auto-attacks.
  • Stacked armor and Plated Steelcaps counter him hard; he struggles in hard-counter lanes.

Laning Phase

Tryndamere is strong against melee and immobile champions, so look for early kills to snowball. Build Fury by auto-attacking — wards, plants and Honeyfruit also generate Fury — and remember that crits lower Spinning Slash's cooldown, especially against champions. When pushing your opponent into their tower, auto-attack and then immediately Spinning Slash away to maximise damage.

Mid & Late Game

Split-push with your high AD and use Undying Rage to dive enemies under their tower. Mocking Shout slows enemies who are facing away from you, which helps you chase. Use Bloodlust to convert Fury into healing during fights.

Key Tips

  • Spinning Slash into Flash right after the cast extends your engage or escape.
  • Mocking Shout can be cast without vision — it lights up when an invisible champion is in range.
  • Undying Rage can be cast while crowd-controlled.
  • Enchanters like Yuumi, Lulu or Milio amplify his carry potential.
