Rammus Guide

Top

Our Rammus guide covers durable solo-lane and jungle builds. The build stacks armor and magic resist that Aftershock, Conditioning and Defensive Ball Curl multiply, returns damage with Thornmail, and heals through Unending Despair, Font of Life and Riftmaker.

Aftershock with Font of Life, Conditioning and Revitalize, plus Triumph and Last Stand, is the recommended page. In a solo lane take Ignite and Teleport; in the jungle, Flash and Mosstomper Smite. Start Doran's Shield and a potion, then Bami's Cinder and a Refillable Potion at around 1,050 gold. Rush Bramble Vest into Thornmail, then Sunfire Aegis, Mercury's Treads (Plated Steelcaps only against full AD with no CC), Unending Despair and Spirit Visage. Finish with Riftmaker for damage and healing, Jak'Sho for raw resistances, or Abyssal Mask to boost your team's magic damage.

Strengths

  • Enormous armor from Defensive Ball Curl and Aftershock — punishing for auto-attackers.
  • Thornmail turns that armor into reflected damage.
  • Lots of crowd control that also triggers Font of Life heals for allies.

Weaknesses

  • The build relies on stacking resistances, so magic damage is less covered early.
  • Mostly tank damage; carries need to follow up in teamfights.
  • Healing-heavy and on-hit enemies require the Bramble Vest rush.

Laning Phase

Always open trades by landing Q or E first to activate Aftershock, then cast Defensive Ball Curl — its bonus armor and magic resist multiply Aftershock's, and you keep the stats afterward. With just Bami's Cinder and Bramble Vest, you can often fight off a 1v2 when the enemy top and jungler gank you.

Mid & Late Game

Once Sunfire Aegis, Thornmail and Unending Despair are done, dive into fights to soak damage and reflect it, using Puncturing Taunt and Soaring Slam to lock down key targets. Spirit Visage and Revitalize amplify all your healing, so you can stay in extended fights.

Key Tips

  • Hold Doran's Shield until your very last item — it's very gold-efficient while in combat.
  • Keep the Refillable Potion until you start building your third item.
  • Conditioning's percentage resistances stack with Defensive Ball Curl, which is why it's chosen over Second Wind.
