Morgana Guide

Support

Morgana is a high-damage utility support with huge pick potential from Dark Binding, a Black Shield that denies enemy crowd control, and a team-wide stun from Soul Shackles. Play for picks and poke, and be precise with your shield, since her kit is small and her cooldowns are long.

Arcane Comet with Manaflow Band, Transcendence and Scorch, plus Domination's Sixth Sense and Ultimate Hunter, with ability haste, adaptive and scaling-health shards; Summon Aery is a fine alternative with less damage. Take Flash and Ignite. Start with your support item and a potion, then buy boots and Haunting Guise on your first back. The core is Zaz'Zak's Realmspike and Liandry's Torment with boots, and the full build adds Sorcerer's Shoes, Rylai's Crystal Scepter, Zhonya's Hourglass and Morellonomicon. Ionian Boots are a good alternative for Flash haste, and Zhonya's helps you survive while finishing Soul Shackles. Max Dark Binding first.

Strengths

  • Strong crowd control with a root, slow and stun.
  • Great range and high damage for a support.
  • Black Shield gives an ally immunity to crowd control.

Weaknesses

  • Very squishy with low mobility — an easy catch.
  • Very long cooldowns early.
  • Small support kit, so every decision has to count.

Laning Phase

Consider an early invade with your team, since Dark Binding has big pick potential. On the first wave, use brush to land Q on whoever stands closer to your ADC so they can follow up — but don't waste it as level 2 approaches. At level 2 take Black Shield against engage supports like Leona, Nautilus or Thresh, or if your ADC can engage; otherwise take Tormented Shadow for extra damage and quest gold, without spamming it and draining your mana.

Mid & Late Game

Keep a Control Ward on the map and one in your inventory, and switch to Oracle Lens once your support item is upgraded. Look for picks with Dark Binding, save Black Shield for the CC that matters, and use Soul Shackles when you can stay in range for the full tether — Zhonya's makes that much easier when you have to start fights yourself.

Key Tips

  • Black Shield must be applied before the CC hits — it won't free an ally already suppressed.
  • Dark Binding's hitbox is a little larger than it looks.
  • Tormented Shadow procs Arcane Comet, so you can use it to check brush safely.
  • Soul Shackles can be cast on enemies hidden in brush or camouflaged.
