Lucian Guide

ADC

Lucian is an aggressive caster-style marksman: burst enemies with ability-plus-double-shot combos, snowball through early skirmishes, and use mid-game priority and vision to pick off targets — he gets outscaled late, so close games out early.

Press the Attack with Triumph, Legend: Alacrity and Cut Down, plus Cash Back and Triple Tonic, is the standard page; a First Strike page is the one-shot alternative with Milio or Nami. Take Flash with Exhaust, Cleanse or Barrier. Start Doran's Blade against engage lanes or Doran's Bow into poke. The all-purpose core is Essence Reaver, Infinity Edge, Gluttonous Greaves and Navori Flickerblade, which keeps Relentless Pursuit almost permanently available. Into squishy teams go The Collector, Infinity Edge and Rapid Firecannon; into tanks add Lord Dominik's Regards. Guardian Angel or Death's Dance answer AD threats, Maw of Malmortius or Mercurial Scimitar answer magic damage, and Bloodthirster helps against poke.

Strengths

  • High early damage and burst; one of the strongest single-target marksmen.
  • Mobile and slippery, easily avoiding jungle ganks.
  • Excellent in 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 skirmishes with strong snowball potential.

Weaknesses

  • Very low range, so he's often out-ranged in lane and teamfights.
  • Very difficult to play from behind and outscaled by most marksmen.
  • Struggles in front-to-back teamfights and isn't beginner friendly.

Laning Phase

Start Q unless you're cheesing a level 1 fight. Weave abilities between double shots and cancel the second shot's animation with your next ability. Trade as a caster: commit to a quick auto–Q–auto, then back off while your cooldowns recover. Don't waste Relentless Pursuit going in when enemy CC is ready — often it's better to walk up, damage with Q and W, and save E to escape. At level 2, always look for an E plus Piercing Light combo if you're in range.

Mid & Late Game

Lucian is strongest in the early and mid game, so push your advantage: get priority, roam for vision, invades and objectives, and fight even-numbered skirmishes. Use Control Wards to create vision pockets, catch squishies who walk up to the wave and burst them with W, E, Q and The Culling, especially before Dragon or Baron. Late game, avoid straight 5v5 fights where possible; play for picks, use The Culling to poke a priority carry, and dive with your crowd control or kite tanks with Navori.

Key Tips

  • Trickshot Piercing Light through a minion to hit enemies behind it.
  • A short Relentless Pursuit in place gives a faster 'double double' shot.
  • Bait the jungler with regular movement and keep E to dodge the gank.
  • Don't draft Lucian into a team already lacking sustained damage.
