Top

Kled is an all-in top laner who rides Skaarl into every fight. Beartrap on a Rope hooks and pulls a target, Violent Tendencies gives four rapid attacks with a percent-health hit at the end, Jousting dashes in and then through the target, and Chaaaaaaaarge!!! sends him across the map with a speed trail for his team. When Skaarl's health runs out he dismounts and becomes briefly untargetable, then remounts once he builds enough courage, which lets him turn fights that look lost.

Core Items

Situational Items

Start Doran's Blade and a Health Potion, or Doran's Shield, Doran's Helm or Cull for safer lanes. Titanic Hydra is the standard first item against melee champions, followed by Plated Steelcaps, Hullbreaker and Black Cleaver; take Black Cleaver second against two or more tanks and Hullbreaker second when the enemy does not build armor. Sterak's Gage and Overlord's Bloodmail round out the bruiser build, Eclipse works well into Garen, and Voltaic Cyclosword starts a lethality build against ranged laners. Buy Executioner's Calling early against healing such as Aatrox or Dr. Mundo, and Mercury's Treads or Kaenic Rookern against magic damage. Run Conqueror with Triumph, Legend: Alacrity and Last Stand, plus Demolish and Bone Plating; Grasp of the Undying is a solid alternative. Take Flash with Teleport, Ignite, or Exhaust as many Kled players prefer. Max Q, then W, then E.

Strengths

Unmatched all-in and dive potential, and one of the strongest level 1s in top lane.
Skaarl gives him a large effective health pool, and remounting can turn fights.
Chaaaaaaaarge!!! is a terrifying engage from fog of war and great for roams.

Weaknesses

Vulnerable and short-ranged while dismounted.
Missing Beartrap on a Rope removes most of his kill pressure.
Kiting and poke compositions can stop him from ever engaging.

Laning Phase

Go straight to lane and contest the first wave: when the enemy steps up to last-hit, trade with all four Violent Tendencies attacks on them, which often takes 40 to 50 percent of their health. Let the wave slow push toward you after that trade. Take Beartrap on a Rope at level 2 and Jousting at 3; the level 3 combo is E, Q, three attacks, the second E to stick or dodge, and the fourth attack, which is lethal on enemies around 60 percent health with Ignite. Assume the enemy jungler is topside around 3:00 to 3:30 unless you have seen them elsewhere, and freeze just outside your tower after your first recall.

Mid & Late Game

Use Chaaaaaaaarge!!! to engage from fog of war or to rotate quickly to objectives, bringing your team along on its speed trail. Dive onto priority targets and keep fighting: being dismounted makes you untargetable for an instant, so you can dodge key spells and remount to finish the fight. Against kiting and poke compositions, wait for your engagers or a flank instead of charging into a fully prepared team.

Key Tips

Use the dismount to your advantage: the instant of untargetability can dodge a key spell or execute.
Jousting's second dash passes through the target, which lets you stick to them or dodge a skillshot.
Against Fiora, do not throw Beartrap on a Rope predictably; she can parry the pull and stun you.
Chaaaaaaaarge!!! leaves a trail that speeds up allies following you, so call your engage.
