Jhin Guide

ADC

Jhin is a long-range marksman built around his four-shot gun. Whisper makes every fourth shot a guaranteed crit that executes, and converts his attack speed into attack damage; Dancing Grenade bounces between targets, Deadly Flourish roots enemies recently hit by him or his allies, Captive Audience places traps, and Curtain Call fires four long-range shots with the last one critting. He is not a classic sustained-damage carry: his strength is picking off and executing targets from range.

Start Doran's Blade and a Health Potion. The core is Youmuu's Ghostblade, The Collector, Infinity Edge and Rapid Firecannon, then Lord Dominik's Regards and Bloodthirster. Boots of Swiftness help you dodge skillshots in lanes against hooks, Guardian Angel or Mercurial Scimitar protect you against dives and heavy crowd control, and Mortal Reminder or Serpent's Fang handle healing and shields. Run Fleet Footwork with Presence of Mind, Legend: Bloodline and Coup de Grace, plus Cash Back and Triple Tonic; take Cut Down against two or more tanks, and Deathfire Touch with a Sorcery primary is a strong alternative. Take Flash with Barrier, or Cleanse against hard crowd control. Max Q, then W, then E.

Strengths

  • Huge range from Deadly Flourish and Curtain Call to start or finish fights.
  • Burst and execute damage on the fourth shot of every reload.
  • Strong lane poke with Dancing Grenade and Deadly Flourish setups.

Weaknesses

  • Low attack speed makes him vulnerable when divers get on top of him.
  • Has to reload after four shots, so mistimed fights are punished.
  • Aggressive lanes like Draven, Tristana or Samira can run him down.

Laning Phase

Use Dancing Grenade like a fifth attack in lane, or hold it while the caster minions are low so a bounce can zone the enemy ADC. Q followed by the fourth attack deals more damage than the reverse order and is faster. To push a wave, put a trap and a grenade on the casters while you attack the melee minions. Avoid face-checking brushes: scout with Deadly Flourish, a trap or a ward instead.

Mid & Late Game

In teamfights Jhin is your team's executioner rather than a front-to-back damage dealer: land Deadly Flourish on a target your team has already hit, and finish low enemies with the fourth shot or Curtain Call. He pairs well with champions who reset on kills, such as Aatrox or Viego. Fire soul is the best dragon soul for him, followed by Cloud and Hextech.

Key Tips

  • You can Flash during Deadly Flourish's cast animation to change its angle.
  • Deadly Flourish can be buffered into an enemy's crowd control so the root lands right after.
  • Your fourth shot always crits and executes, so save it for the final hit on a low target.
  • Hold Dancing Grenade when the enemy is near low-health minions so its bounce can reach them.
