Ivern Guide

Jungle

Ivern is a jungle enchanter who plays for his team rather than for himself. Friend of the Forest lets him free jungle camps without attacking them and share them with allies, Rootcaller roots a target and lets allies dash to it, Brushmaker creates brushes that empower his attacks, Triggerseed shields an ally and then explodes to slow enemies, and Daisy! summons a sentinel that knocks enemies up. He is weak in direct duels, so he wins by enabling aggressive teammates with shields, crowd control and Daisy.

Start Gustwalker Hatchling. The enchanter build is Echoes of Helia, Ionian Boots of Lucidity, Moonstone Renewer and Dawncore, then Staff of Flowing Water and Rabadon's Deathcap for maximum healing and shielding. Redemption, Knight's Vow and Shurelya's Battlesong are strong active-item options, and Ardent Censer suits attack-speed carries. A full AP line with Cosmic Drive, Lich Bane, Rabadon's Deathcap and Zhonya's Hourglass is also possible. Run Summon Aery with Nimbus Cloak, Transcendence and Gathering Storm, plus Cash Back and Cosmic Insight; Glacial Augment is the alternative enchanter keystone. Take Flash with Smite, or Heal with Smite for maximum team sustain. Max E, then Q, then W.

Strengths

  • Huge utility: shields, roots, slows and Daisy make his teammates much harder to kill.
  • Rootcaller lets allies dash onto the rooted target, which sets up ganks and engages.
  • Brushmaker creates vision control and safe angles in fights.

Weaknesses

  • Very weak in direct duels, so early invaders such as Kindred, Nidalee, Zed or lethality Jarvan IV can choke his jungle.
  • Rootcaller is easily blocked by minions, plants or Naafiri's packmates.
  • He depends on teammates who can turn his setup into damage.

Laning Phase

Ivern's early game is about safety and tempo: use Friend of the Forest to free camps, share them with allies when it helps your lanes, and avoid fights against strong invaders. Use your brushes to block auto attacks from champions like Kindred and to force them to overextend. Ganks are strongest when your laner can follow Rootcaller: root the enemy, let your ally dash in and shield them with Triggerseed. Against fast-clearing junglers such as Zyra, expect to give up some early objectives and play for counter-ganks with good vision.

Mid & Late Game

From the mid game Ivern scales into a teamfight enabler: shield whoever is engaging, root a key target and summon Daisy into the enemy team to knock them up. Pair with divers and melee carries such as Yasuo, Nilah, Samira or Olaf, whom your shields and crowd control keep alive in extended fights. Keep vision with Brushmaker around objectives, and use Smite to secure dragons and Baron.

Key Tips

  • Allies can dash to an enemy rooted by Rootcaller, so call it out before you land it.
  • Cast Triggerseed on the ally who is diving: the shield explodes into a slow around them.
  • Daisy! knocks enemies up after three consecutive hits, so send her toward the target your team is focusing.
  • Use Brushmaker to block enemy auto attacks and to hide your team's position.
