Heimerdinger Guide

Mid

The plan: control the lane with turret poke and steady farming, punish melee champions with Electrocute and Ignite, and turn fights around with well-placed turrets and empowered abilities. Some item details date from season 14; compare them with current stats.

Electrocute with Taste of Blood, Deep Ward and a hunter rune, plus Manaflow Band and Scorch, is the aggressive page — your turrets count toward the Electrocute proc. Arcane Comet with Barrier is the poke alternative for top or support, or when the enemy jungler is a tank like Zac or Sejuani. Start Doran's Ring with potions and always take Flash. The full build is Sorcerer's Shoes, Rabadon's Deathcap and Zhonya's Hourglass, then Blackfire Torch, Void Staff and Shadowflame; Luden's Echo is the usual first item for wave clear and burst. Rush Zhonya's against assassins like Zed or Talon, and buy Liandry's Torment only into multiple tanks.

Strengths

  • Lots of burst and early pressure, and he can turn 1v2s into good trades.
  • Hard to gank once turrets are down, and his CC can hit several enemies.
  • Flexible pick that works in several lanes and keeps the enemy laner shoved in.

Weaknesses

  • Very low base stats and no mobility — easy to burst, especially by assassins.
  • Poorly placed turrets are destroyed quickly.
  • Mana hungry in the early game.

Laning Phase

Focus on farming rather than early trades: turret poke out-sustains most laners and forces them to recall while you crash waves. You rarely have kill pressure before level 4 or 5, so weave in auto-attacks and Electrocute procs while managing mana. Constant pushing makes you a gank target, so ward and track the enemy jungler, and use empowered turrets to turn around enemy ganks.

Mid & Late Game

Team up with your jungler for early dragons and Rift Herald — Heimerdinger's objective damage is underrated. Fight around objectives and high-traffic areas where you can set turrets up in advance. In teamfights the empowered grenade with three turrets gives the most crowd control and damage; save the empowered rockets for late game when you have AP and a stunned target.

Key Tips

  • When sieging, place turrets while the enemy tower is shooting a cannon minion so they survive longer.
  • For Baron steals, use turrets for vision, the empowered grenade to secure and rockets as follow-up.
  • Your ultimate can be cast while you're crowd-controlled.
  • Turrets deactivate if you leave their range for long, so don't drift away from them.
