Evelynn Guide

Jungle

Evelynn is an AP jungle assassin who hunts from camouflage. From level 6 Demon Shade keeps her hidden out of combat, Allure marks a target and then charms them, Whiplash becomes a dash, and Last Caress makes her briefly untargetable, blinks her back and executes low targets. She wants to reach level 6 quickly and then one-shot isolated squishy champions with Lich Bane and AP items.

Start Gustwalker Hatchling, because Evelynn values movement speed above everything. Rush Sorcerer's Shoes and Dark Seal as early as you can; with about 1200 gold and no level 3 back, buy Blasting Wand with Dark Seal. The classic full build is Sorcerer's Shoes, Lich Bane, Mejai's Soulstealer, Rabadon's Deathcap, Void Staff and Banshee's Veil, whose shield protects your Mejai stacks. Zhonya's Hourglass is a good last item against heavy AD teams, and Shadowflame can replace Mejai's if you lose your stacks late. Run Electrocute with Sudden Impact, Sixth Sense and Relentless Hunter, plus Triumph and Coup de Grace; Grisly Mementos with Axiom Arcanist and Gathering Storm is the common alternative. Take Flash and Smite. Max Q, then E, then W.

Strengths

  • Huge burst: with two items she can delete squishy carries in a fraction of a second.
  • Permanent camouflage after level 6 makes her ganks hard to predict.
  • Scales well, and Last Caress with Smite lets her steal almost any objective.

Weaknesses

  • Squishy, and hard to escape from a fight without Last Caress.
  • Vulnerable to invades before level 6.
  • Control Wards and champions who reveal or invade, such as Rengar and Rek'Sai, counter her.

Laning Phase

Evelynn's level 1 is surprisingly strong, so look for early fights once you are comfortable, but your main goal is reaching level 6 fast without losing camps for pre-6 ganks. Most games you want to finish your first clear near bot lane to get your carry ahead. On blue side smite your blue buff if you start alone; on red side start raptors so your top laner does not need to leash. At level 3 check whether top is gankable before choosing your skill, then recall for Dark Seal. Start recalls in fog near the lane you are pathing toward, so you can still gank if an opening appears.

Mid & Late Game

Your next spikes are Lich Bane and then two completed items, when your full combo plus Last Caress one-shots most squishy targets. Hunt isolated targets from camouflage and position between your victim and their tower, so Allure charms them while they run into you. Before big objectives, look for picks in side lanes. If your team is caught before an objective, Last Caress followed by Smite just before its damage lands can steal dragon or Baron.

Key Tips

  • Mark a target with Allure, hit Hate Spike once it is fully marked, then follow with empowered Whiplash, autos and Last Caress.
  • Getting into melee range lets Whiplash or an attack trigger the charm, which guarantees your first Hate Spike.
  • Cast Last Caress, then Smite just before its damage hits, to secure objectives.
  • Banshee's Veil protects your Mejai's Soulstealer stacks from a single burst spell.
