Diana Guide

Jungle

Diana is an AP jungle diver who bursts targets with Crescent Strike and Lunar Rush and then pulls a whole group together with Moonfall. Every third attack from Moonsilver Blade cleaves nearby enemies, and Lunar Rush resets its cooldown when she dashes to a target marked by Crescent Strike. Her real burst arrives at level 6, and Moonfall deals more damage the more champions it catches, which makes her a strong teamfight initiator.

Start Gustwalker Hatchling with a Health Potion. The author's usual finished build is Dusk and Dawn, Gluttonous Greaves, Shadowflame and Rabadon's Deathcap, then Void Staff and Riftmaker. Nashor's Tooth and Lich Bane add burst against squishy teams, but never buy Lich Bane first. Zhonya's Hourglass lets you survive long enough after diving the backline, and Hextech Rocketbelt adds another dash for picks. When your team needs a tank, build Jak'Sho, The Protean, Sunfire Aegis or Banshee's Veil with Plated Steelcaps. Run Conqueror with Triumph, Legend: Alacrity and Coup de Grace, plus Sudden Impact and Treasure Hunter; Stormraider's Surge suits a speed-and-scaling style, and Electrocute gives more upfront burst. Take Flash and Smite. Max Q, then W, then E.

Strengths

  • Great burst and gap closing with Crescent Strike, Lunar Rush and Moonfall.
  • A strong initiator whose ultimate scales with the number of champions it hits.
  • Flexible builds: full assassin, or a mage-tank that still deals damage.

Weaknesses

  • No escape besides Flash once she has dived in.
  • Weak to early invades and ganks before her level 6 power spike.
  • A full-damage build leaves her very vulnerable after she commits.

Laning Phase

Start with Pale Cascade on your first buff, take your second buff, then Gromp, which is the quickest route to level 3, followed by wolves or raptors and the Scuttle Crab. After Scuttle decide whether to gank or keep clearing; since Lunar Rush became her dash she can gank earlier and force summoner spells. Many junglers can invade or punish her early, so check brushes before starting buffs and avoid early fights against strong duelists until you have level 6.

Mid & Late Game

From level 6 look for picks on targets caught out of position: mark them with Crescent Strike, dash in with Lunar Rush and finish with Moonfall and an empowered attack. In teamfights flank and pull as many champions as possible into Moonfall, which pairs especially well with Yasuo's ultimate. If you build tankier, play front to back with Riftmaker and stay in fights longer instead of diving immediately.

Key Tips

  • Hit a target with Crescent Strike first so Lunar Rush comes off cooldown immediately after the dash.
  • Moonfall gains damage for each extra champion it hits, so wait for enemies to group.
  • Buy Zhonya's Hourglass when you have to dive the backline to land your ultimate.
  • Check the side brush before starting red buff; many junglers invade there early.
