Caitlyn Guide

ADC

Play Caitlyn less as a pure lane bully and more as a scaling ADC who one-shots carries late: manage the wave, punish last-hit attempts with Headshots (especially from bushes), and build lethality around Hubris and The Collector so that a Headshot plus Rapid Firecannon can remove a squishy before the fight even starts.

First Strike with Cash Back, Triple Tonic and Cosmic Insight, plus Absolute Focus and Gathering Storm, is the main page; Hail of Blades, Lethal Tempo and Fleet Footwork pages cover other styles. Start Doran's Blade, buy two Long Swords or Cull on the first back (Serrated Dirk when fed), then Hubris and The Collector with Boots of Swiftness, followed by Lord Dominik's Regards, Infinity Edge, Rapid Firecannon and Bloodthirster. Our 'meta' alternative is Hexoptics C44 with Gluttonous Greaves, Infinity Edge, Lord Dominik's and Immortal Shieldbow.

Strengths

  • Superior attack range for safe poke and kiting in teamfights.
  • Plenty of self-peel: five snap traps plus the knockback and slow on E.
  • Huge late-game burst — Headshot combined with Rapid Firecannon deletes squishies.

Weaknesses

  • Longer-range poke champions like Ziggs and Seraphine outrange and outpoke her.
  • Her ultimate can't be cancelled, so careless casts are dangerous.
  • A deceptively high skill ceiling: trap placement and positioning take practice.

Laning Phase

Manage the wave and punish the enemy for walking up to last-hit, weaving autos between abilities and fishing for Headshots from bushes. Line Q up to hit both the wave and the enemy ADC. Don't spend E aggressively early — it's your disengage and costs a lot of mana — and use traps to restrict their positioning. Against longer-range laners (Ziggs, Ashe, Jhin) prioritise wave control; against short-range ones (Draven, Lucian) poke them every time they go for a last hit.

Mid & Late Game

In teamfights stay behind your front line and use your range to keep auto-attacking while spacing enemy abilities. Save the net for a guaranteed kill combo or to disengage without Flash, and pre-place traps at objective entrances and escape routes. Use Ace in the Hole to poke carries before a fight or to finish isolated low-health targets — but check your surroundings first, because the cast locks you in place.

Key Tips

  • E + Q is the core combo; you can release Q at any point during E, in any direction.
  • E → W → Q: slow the target with E, then drop the trap right in front of them.
  • Proc Headshot, then walk to charge Rapid Firecannon for a long-range one-shot.
  • Enemies who step on a trap take an empowered Headshot, so always follow up.
