Blitzcrank Guide

Support

Blitz is a pick champion: Rocket Grab drags carries out of position, Power Fist knocks them up, and Mana Barrier can bait enemies who think he's low into a losing fight.

The support basic page is Aftershock with Font of Life, Bone Plating and Overgrowth, plus Hextech Flashtraption and Cosmic Insight; Glacial Augment and Unsealed Spellbook pages are alternatives. Take Flash with Ignite, Exhaust if your ADC takes Cleanse, Heal or Ghost or against burst and dive, or Heal optionally. Start World Atlas with two potions and Oracle Lens, consider boots, a Refillable Potion or Bramble Vest early, and upgrade to Celestial Opposition (or Solstice Sleigh or Bloodsong). An example final build is Celestial Opposition, Boots of Swiftness, Bandlepipes, Locket of the Iron Solari, Redemption and Knight's Vow, with Frozen Heart, Zeke's Convergence, Thornmail, Protoplasm Harness, Mikael's Blessing or Dead Man's Plate as last items. The top-lane setup instead runs Lethal Tempo and builds mana items — Tear of the Goddess into Frozen Heart and Winter's Approach — with Doran's Blade and Boots of Swiftness, starting E and maxing W.

Strengths

  • Rocket Grab gives huge pick potential on carries.
  • Static Field silences and Power Fist resets his auto for quick burst.
  • Mana Barrier lets him bait enemies into fights while he looks low.

Weaknesses

  • Overdrive is his only gap closer, so he's easy to kite when hooks miss.
  • Ranged opponents can poke him freely in lane.
  • The top-lane version struggles against health stackers like Dr. Mundo or Sion.

Laning Phase

Always use Power Fist as an auto-attack reset, and remember that hooking an enemy into your bigger minion wave deals surprising damage. Ranged opponents can kite Blitz at low levels, so wait for Rocket Grab or Overdrive to create an opening instead of walking in. In the top-lane version, focus on last-hitting, keep the wave frozen or in the middle because you're vulnerable to ganks when pushed, and expect your first real kill pressure at level 6.

Mid & Late Game

Blitz's mid game revolves around picks: look for hooks on carries, especially when enemies underestimate your damage, and use Flash or Hextech Flashtraption into Rocket Grab for surprise angles. Late game, peel for your carries or combine your crowd control on a caught squishy. Static Field's low cooldown means you can use it in almost every fight.

Key Tips

  • Static Field's passive lightning keeps working until you cast the active, so save the silence for an execute.
  • Take Exhaust instead of Ignite when your ADC already brings Cleanse, Heal or Ghost.
  • Against tanky top laners, farm and scale instead of forcing kills.
