Situational Items

Press the Attack with Presence of Mind, Legend: Alacrity and Cut Down, plus Bone Plating and Overgrowth, is the main page; Conqueror, Summon Aery or Arcane Comet are the alternatives. The core is Spellslinger's Shoes, Nashor's Tooth and Shadowflame, then Zhonya's Hourglass, Rabadon's Deathcap and Void Staff. Comet and Aery players go Lich Bane instead, Dusk and Dawn helps into Qiyana or Ekko, and Liandry's Torment is the anti-tank option. Max W, then Q, then E. Take Teleport for low-trade, farming lanes and Ignite when you want to snowball.

Strengths

Comfortable into many mids: we rate Katarina, Talon, Kassadin, Pantheon and Vladimir among the easiest lanes.
Flexible setups for trading, poke or scaling, with item paths for tanks and assassins.
Pairs especially well with Nami, Shen and Braum, whose stun his soldiers can trigger.

Weaknesses

Long-range artillery mages such as Xerath, Ziggs and Lux can poke him out; consider banning Xerath.
Aggressive early threats like LeBlanc and Akshan punish him before his first item.
Little personal safety in lane without jungle help in the hardest matchups.

Laning Phase

Respect the hardest lanes and play for your first item. Against LeBlanc, back off when she runs at you early, dodge her chain, and only look for a small trade if she uses her Q on minions. Against Syndra at level 1, walk toward her and side-step to bait her Q before poking. Lux and Xerath can bully Azir one-on-one, so play those lanes with your jungler.

Key Tips

Azir's soldiers can trigger Braum's passive stun, making the pair a strong lane combo.
Into poke mages, plan ganks with your jungler instead of trying to win alone.
Pick the rune page per matchup: Press the Attack for trading lanes, Aery or Comet when you mainly poke.
