Ashe Guide

ADC

Ashe is a long-range utility marksman: Frost Shot slows everything she hits, Volley pokes and slows a whole cone, Hawkshot scouts the map and Enchanted Crystal Arrow stuns from anywhere on it. She has no dash and little defence, so she wins by farming safely, kiting at maximum range and setting up picks for her team.

Start Doran's Blade and a Health Potion, or Doran's Bow for more damage. On your first back buy a B. F. Sword or Pickaxe when ahead, or a Vampiric Scepter if you need sustain. The core is Hexoptics C44, Berserker's Greaves, Infinity Edge and Kraken Slayer. Then add Phantom Dancer, Lord Dominik's Regards against armour, Bloodthirster for sustain, or Blade of the Ruined King with Terminus for an on-hit setup; Mortal Reminder handles healing and Runaan's Hurricane helps in teamfights. Lethal Tempo with Triumph, Legend: Alacrity and Coup de Grace, plus Cash Back and Approach Velocity, is the main rune page; Press the Attack, Hail of Blades and Fleet Footwork are alternatives. Take Flash with Barrier, or Cleanse, Heal or Exhaust depending on the threats. Max W, then Q, then E.

Strengths

  • Every attack slows, which makes her one of the best kiting marksmen.
  • Enchanted Crystal Arrow is a global stun that can start fights or decide plays in other lanes.
  • Hawkshot gives free vision of the enemy jungle and objectives.

Weaknesses

  • No dash, so divers and assassins can reach her easily.
  • Mana problems early if you spam Volley.
  • Hard to play from behind, and positioning mistakes are punished hard.

Laning Phase

Focus on farming and use your range: Volley slows the enemy, and a few attacks afterwards win short trades while Frost Shot keeps them slowed. Watch your mana, because Volley is expensive at early levels. Hold a freeze just outside your tower when you can, and ward often so the enemy jungler cannot dive you. Fire Hawkshot over the enemy jungle around 3:15 and 6:00 to track their jungler's path.

Mid & Late Game

From mid game, group with your team for dragons, Rift Herald and Baron, and only farm side waves when you know where the enemy is. Scout with Hawkshot before you walk in, and open fights with Enchanted Crystal Arrow on a priority target or use it to stop a diver on you. Stay behind your frontline and attack the closest target you can hit safely. Late in the game stay with your team: you are vulnerable alone, and dragon soul, Elder Dragon and Baron close games.

Key Tips

  • Activate Ranger's Focus at the start of a fight for its attack speed boost.
  • Enchanted Crystal Arrow travels across the map: use it to help ganks in other lanes or stop a chase.
  • Shoot Hawkshot into brushes and objectives instead of walking in blind.
  • Approach Velocity and Frost Shot together make chasing slowed targets easy.
